Introduction

A widget is just a 'thing' that contains code that lets you present your site as you want. The various widgets in WetPaint include ones for adding YouTube videos, for adding Vizu polls, and for including RSS feeds. This module will help you insert widgets into your page.

Adding a YouTube video to your page using the YouTube widget

Each YouTube video has a unique URL that identifies it, as well as some special code that allows you to 'embed' the video into your website.

  1. Find a video on YouTube that you want to embed in your page.
  2. Copy the URL forthe video.
  3. On your wiki page, make sure you have the EasyEdit ToolBar activated.
  4. Click on the 'Widget' iconWidget icon
  5. Click on the 'YouTube' option in the 'Add Widget' box.
  6. You don't want to search YouTube, because you've already found your video, so click on "Add by URL or EMBED'.
  7. Paste the video's URL into the box.
  8. Click 'Add YouTube Video'.
  9. If you want to change the layout of the video, edit it now.
  10. Click 'Done'.
  11. Click Save.
  12. Your video will now appear on your page.

Advanced: Adding a Vizu poll to your page using the Vizu widget

Adding a poll to your page can be fun, as well as good for getting feedback on the page content. To add a Vizu poll, you will first have to sign up with Vizu.

6. Adding widgets - Meg's BrushUP!


  1. Sign up with Vizu and follow the instructions to create a poll.
  2. Export your poll and get the Export Code for the poll.
  3. Copy the Export Code
  4. On your wiki page, make sure you have the EasyEdit ToolBar activated.
  5. Click on the 'Widget' iconWidget icon
  6. Click on the 'Vizu' option in the 'Add Widget' box.
  7. Paste the poll's Embed Code into the box.
  8. Click 'Add Vizu Poll'.
  9. If you want to change the layout of the video, edit it now.
  10. Click 'Done'.
  11. Click Save.
  12. Your poll will now appear on your page.
